If you want to manifest something into your reality, you say affirmations. Well, you don’t have to say affirmations out loud – you can write them, think them in your head and even listen to them. It’s all about finding out exactly what works for you. No matter how you decide to express them, affirmations are the building blocks of any successful affirmation.

Before you get to the point where you’re saying affirmations for manifesting, you need to consider how to construct one. While this part is just as personal as any other. When I put together an affirmation to introduce something into my world, I follow the five pillars of a successful affirmation:

The 5 Pillars of Successful Affirmations

In practice, this leads to putting together something like this:

The components of a positive affirmation

Your affirmation targets something specific, shows gratitude, and acts as you’ve already got whatever it is you’d like to manifest – even if that’s not necessarily the case.

Using Affirmations to Manifest

Just as there are no limits to what you can put into an affirmation format, you have all sorts of freedoms when it comes to using those affirmations to manifest something.

While not essential, the first step for me is always to write the affirmation down. This achieves several things:

  • Thinking about an affirmation can be easy to forget and it can happen in a split second. Writing it down makes a permanent record to refer back to if you find yourself in a manifestation routine
  • People are more likely to think before they write than they are to think before they speak. Time spent focusing on manifesting something you’re not sure you even want can be better spent manifesting your bigger dreams
  • Even if you choose another option for continued manifestation, writing affirmations is widely accepted as being one of the most powerful techniques out there

How and where you write an affirmation is entirely up to you. The universal energies you’re appealing to in order to make your affirmation happen don’t care about spelling, grammar, or language. As long as the words you write then go on to say or think mean something to you, that’s a great affirmation.

The Emotion of Affirmations

Just to be clear, affirmations don’t have to be in English, nor do they need to follow any style guide. In most cases, they’re unique to you. It doesn’t matter if nobody else in the world understands them as long as you do.

In most cases, the universe doesn’t communicate with you verbally (it usually does so using repeating numbers and other signs). The same works in reverse. Your language skills don’t matter to the universe. Indeed, language is one of the few things the universe itself didn’t directly create. It works with energies instead, and that’s why affirmations are more about how they make you feel than what you actually say.

So, your affirmation might say:

“I’m so grateful to have been promoted to Head of Marketing.”

It might just as easily say:

“01001001 01101101 00100000 01110011 01101111 00100000 01100111 01110010 01100001 01110100 01100101 01100110 01110101 01101100 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01101000 01100001 01110110 01100101 00100000 01100010 01100101 01100101 01101110 00100000 01110000 01110010 01101111 01101101 01101111 01110100 01100101 01100100 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01001000 01100101 01100001 01100100 00100000 01101111 01100110 00100000 01001101 01100001 01110010 01101011 01100101 01110100 01101001 01101110 01100111.”

That looks like gibberish to most people. It would to me if I hadn’t just translated the original affirmation into binary! However, if you can read binary and the message makes sense to you, while also making you feel positive and grateful, then it’s every bit as valid an affirmation as any other.

It’s an extreme example, but it reinforces the fact that affirmations and therefore manifestations aren’t about what you say as much as they’re about how you feel.

If you want to manifest something, take a few minutes to decide how best to translate that into an affirmation using the images near the start of the article. Then go ahead and say it, while paying close attention to how saying it makes you feel.

With affirmations, it doesn't matter if nobody else in the world understands them, as long as you do.

Does it make you feel like your affirmation is on its way when you say it? Do you feel positive and grateful for something that hasn’t arrived yet?

If you can say “yes” to both of these questions then you’ve got an affirmation on your hands. What you then do with it to manifest is down to you:

I often refer to affirmations as the building blocks of manifestation – I’ve done so already in the introduction of this very article! Just as there’s more to building a house than acquiring hundreds of bricks, affirmations are the material, but you’ll need a builder to turn them into the finished product.

Fortunately, you won’t need to spend time and money on expensive contractors as you’re the builder! Furthermore, while there’s a right way to lay bricks (and plenty of wrong ways), there are thousands of different ways to use affirmations to manifest. Saying them is one way, but there really is something for everyone.

If you’ve landed here because you want to speak affirmations, by all means, do that. Write it down somewhere, even if it’s just on the notes app on your mobile device (because you can manifest on your phone just as easily as anywhere else). That way, you won’t forget it, and you’ll start to build the habit of checking it and repeating it. Repetition and consistency are great for manifestation, so there’s no harm in getting off to the ideal start!

What Do You Say When Manifesting? – In Summary

If you want to manifest something, you’ll start off by saying affirmations. However, before even getting to that point, you’ll first form your affirmation – potentially with the five pillars of successful affirmations – and write it down so you’ve got a hard copy. From there, you say it how and when works for you. It might be in conjunction with a range of different manifesting techniques, or it could be something entirely unique to you.

Then, you can expect to see results. They might not be fast, but they’ll come. If you encounter manifestation obstacles, don’t be afraid to change things up a bit as once you find success, you’ll know what works. From there, it’s simply a case of repeating the process over and over, as there’s no limit to how much you can manifest and how you can shape the world around you to your liking!
